Fall Favorites

It's been awhile since I have posted, longer than I had planned.  The weather has turned chilly and the farmers are in the fields for harvest.  This is my favorite time of year.  I love fall the best!  I made a really delicious new apple crisp recipe tonight.  You have got to try it!

Apple Crisp

1 cup of flour
1 cup of uncooked oatmeal
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of butter (room temp.)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix these first five ingredients together, using a pastry blender to work in the butter.  Put 1/2 of mixture in greased 9X13 pan.

Peel, core and slice enough apples to make 4-6 cups.  Spread these apples over the crumble mixture that is in cake pan.

Bring to a boil on the stove:

1 cup of water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup of white sugar

Constantly stirring, let boil for one minute.  Remove from heat and immediately pour over apples and crumb mixture in cake pan.  Top with remaining crumble mixture and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.  Serve warm with a topping of vanilla ice cream or cool whip.
